'Stranger Things' actor Noah Schnapp comes out as gay in TikTok video

Noah Schnapp, one of the young stars on Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things," came out on to the internet Thursday using a TikTok trend.

Schnapp, 18, posted a video to his verified account featuring popular audio where people describe big life events that weren't "that serious." In his, he wrote about coming out as gay to his family.

"When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was 'we know,'" Schnapp wrote in the video.

The 18-year-old actor shared a lighthearted TikTok Thursday, revealing to his 31.4 million followers that his loved ones already knew about his sexual orientation when he worked up the courage to come out to them.




“When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know,'” he wrote atop the selfie-style clip.

In the 8-second video, the University of Pennsylvania freshman was seen lying in his bed while mouthing the words of a woman saying, “You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, will never be that serious.”
